Twenty-five years of observation has also told me that criminals are more “made” than “born,” which means that somewhere along the line, someone who provided a profound negative influence could have provided a profound positive one instead. So what I truly believe is that along with more money and police and prisons, what we most need more of is love. This is not being simplistic; it’s at the very heart of the issue…- Mind Hunter - John Douglas and Mark Olshaker[Mindhunter: Inside the Fbi’s Elite..]

From the Public Affairs and Record Home Page of Columbia University you can read the article that is getting all kinds of press this last week on working mothers and the cognitive effects it has on their kids.
Today’s parents have more choices than ever before. For all of the editors here at Stay at Home Mom we chose to stay home with our kids. Many of us have put up with furniture that doesn’t match, clothes that are out of date, and vacations that revolve around visiting places where we can stay with relatives. Someone once said “Folding clothes while the kids are growing is like shoveling snow while its still snowing”. Keeping up with the housework while the kids are little can sometime seem overwhelming. In a study done by the University of Michigan last year, they found that you may may not want to put that housework off too much. They found a direct correlation between a tidy house and success in school.
Our recommendation here at Stay at Home Mom is -> keep it simple. If you are spending more time putting your stuff away than actually enjoying it then just get rid of some stuff. Let it go. Read the article and then join the discussion board and let us know how you balance your days between enjoying the time you have with your kids and the daily routine of housework.[article]
