Dog Training made easy
We have a teenager who loves animals and so he thought it would be a great idea to give me a dog for my birthday and the present part would be that he would train the dog. Great idea in theory. But teenagers don’t always realize that even though they have a day out in the snow with their friends planned the doggie waiting at home still has to go to the bathroom (well go to the spot in the yard that is his favorite spot) several times a day.
Dogs and kids can be a great thing. It teaches kids responsibility. Dogs can be full of love and appreciation even for the littlest things. And having an animal can help children learn about loss when the family pet passes away. They are great. But it’s only fair to the kids and the dog to make sure you spend the time to train the dog.
Our first dog took a couple of years to train but we didn’t get any help and just worked with him when we could. This time around we are getting help and we are working with our new puppy every day with alot of consistency to get him on the right track quickly. It is totally paying off. He has a crate that also serves as his dog house and now at night he goes to his dog house, we turn off the lights and he goes to sleep. In the morning he waits patiently until 7am when we take him out for his morning constitutional. Spending the time getting this routine established has been awesome.
If you have a new dog or are thinking about adding a new critter to the family check out this dog training guide. It could save you years of training time and lots of frustration.

I didn’t even really know what to title this post. What an amazing story. This is a true testiment to quick response and keen observance by an eye witness.
On Monday, a teenage boy disappears after getting off the school bus. On Friday they not only find him but also another boy who had been missing for four years. What?!?! This is a wild story.
I had allowed my teenage son to walk the two blocks home from his bus stop alone several times.
It is hard to imagine the motivation for these abductions. It makes me wonder what tools I can give my kids to keep them safe from wierdos in the world like this guy. This is a story that I hope will provide a few more answers to parents and kids.
It reaffirms the buddy system. Always a good idea. It also reaffirms keeping an eye out for things that are out of place. The teenager that was able to describe the truck gave the police alot of detail. So much detail that I even heard some of them suggested he might not have gotten it quite right. There was also suggestions that they would never be able to find a truck just like that because surely the criminal would change the appearance of the truck. But the detail was accurate and the truck was in the same condition when it was spotted by a couple of policemen serving some kind of notice to another person in the same neighborhood where the criminal lived. Wild.
Hard not to believe in the power of prayer.
Then not only did they find the teenager abducted on Monday but another boy who had been missing for four years. That boys family had gone through their life savings and quit their jobs to look for their boy until they were forced to go back to work because they had depleted all resources.
Our thoughts and prayers ane with both families and all families with missing children. We will be following this story.

Over the holidays it is really easy to put on extra weight. It is a cliche but true. Family gatherings and gift baskets exchanged at the office and suddenly you’re up 5 pounds.
Now that the decorations are being put away and life is getting back to “normal” it is time to take off those extra holiday pounds.
There are lots of ways to do that but when you’re a stay at home mom with small kids at home it is not always easy to get out of the house for a nice 30 to 60 minute walk or to get to a meeting that is usually scheduled at the same time as juniors nap time.
Here is what a number of us Stay At Home Moms are doing this January to take off the pounds. It’s called the Cinch plan.
Click here for more information on the Cinch Plan
The great thing about this plan is that it comes with a virtual support group. When you get the starter kit you get everything including snacks to get you through the day, tea to curb your afternoon appetite, a booklet to track your progress, tape measurer, pedometer (to track your steps while doing housework) and the best online support site I have ever seen.
The support group site is easy to use and full of helpful information as well as discussion groups with other people who are using the program.
Check it out. Give it a try and see what a “cinch” weight loss can be.
