    In the News: 2 Missing Boys Found Alive in Missouri

    Filed under: Safety, parenting, teenagers;

    I didn’t even really know what to title this post. What an amazing story. This is a true testiment to quick response and keen observance by an eye witness.

    On Monday, a teenage boy disappears after getting off the school bus. On Friday they not only find him but also another boy who had been missing for four years. What?!?! This is a wild story.

    I had allowed my teenage son to walk the two blocks home from his bus stop alone several times.

    It is hard to imagine the motivation for these abductions. It makes me wonder what tools I can give my kids to keep them safe from wierdos in the world like this guy. This is a story that I hope will provide a few more answers to parents and kids.

    It reaffirms the buddy system. Always a good idea. It also reaffirms keeping an eye out for things that are out of place. The teenager that was able to describe the truck gave the police alot of detail. So much detail that I even heard some of them suggested he might not have gotten it quite right. There was also suggestions that they would never be able to find a truck just like that because surely the criminal would change the appearance of the truck. But the detail was accurate and the truck was in the same condition when it was spotted by a couple of policemen serving some kind of notice to another person in the same neighborhood where the criminal lived. Wild.

    Hard not to believe in the power of prayer.

    Then not only did they find the teenager abducted on Monday but another boy who had been missing for four years. That boys family had gone through their life savings and quit their jobs to look for their boy until they were forced to go back to work because they had depleted all resources.

    Our thoughts and prayers ane with both families and all families with missing children. We will be following this story.
