    Teenagers

    Filed under: teenagers;

    We started the Stay at Home Mom newsletter in 1989 (at that time it was a desktop publishing project using a mac desktop computer and kinko’s copy center to print off the newsletters). Our focus was on relaying positive messages to moms and to focus on the Stay at Home Mom bookclub.
    At that time all of the kids running around the Stay at Home Mom Headquarters were all teeny tiny.
    Now those same little tykes are all teenagers and starting to drive and think about what college they want to attend.
    It is nice being able to sleep through the night now and being able to take a shower without worrying about what the kids are doing during that few short minutes that we take our eyes off of them. At the same time, there is a wierd feeling of apprehension and a sense of being a little unsettled at the thought of having any one of these darling babies move out on their own.
    I wasn’t really being able to pinpoint this feeling until I got a phone call from our bookclub editor who relayed very similar feelings. Although her daughter is one year younger and so not going to move out for a few years but she was prepping for it already.
    So, it is very cliche but for all of you out there still changing diapers and waking up in the middle of the night just to check your darling baby just to make sure they’re breathing ok, take a few minutes every day to soak in that special time with your darling baby. The time truly does fly by. And then, when they are teenagers you can take a moment and marvel at the wonderful and interesting and unique people they have become. It is so amazing to me to see these little guys become big guys and go out with ideas of their own and make their own way in the world. It is a marvel. Soak it up -
